Flirt with Someone you Like at Work

Do you have a crush on somebody at work? Well, that’s really pretty normal especially if your coworker is irresistibly hot. However, this is situation can be a bit tricky because fancying about them might make you look creepy. Also, flirting with a coworker might put your career on the line, and you definitely do not want to do anything that will be detrimental to your job.

So when you are in this situation, you need to make sure that you are careful when you start flirting with someone from work. You do not want to appear unprofessional and you also don’t want to give someone a wrong impression of you.

If you want to flirt the innocent and subtle way where you can stay out of trouble, here are the things that you need to follow.

1. Try to make it sound like a joke

Instead of making flirty remarks, try to make it more like a joke so that it sounds more friendly. This way, it is more acceptable and appropriate, and it is rather more fun than malicious. You can also use compliments instead of becoming outright flirtatious. So long as it does not directly send the message you are hitting on them, it will be more professional and appropriate.

2. Avoid physical touch

In any office or work setting, it is highly recommended to avoid touching co-workers, except when you have to do a handshake, or when you need to tap someone at the back. Other than that, it is better if you do not go any further. You can’t just slap anyone at the butt because that is outright being flirty and that’s pretty obvious, you might be putting your job at risk.

3. Do not act on flirtatious remarks or comments

If you make a flirty comment a joke like inviting someone out, make sure that it remains a joke. Do not make it serious or do not act on it. Otherwise, it will be very inappropriate and unprofessional for you to do. Make sure that even if you have a crush on this person and even if you are flirting with them, your relationship remains platonic, like how co-workers and friends should be.

4. Do not get drunk on office events

There are a lot of office events where employees are required to attend, and in many of these events, alcohol is involved. A stern reminder, you should avoid getting drunk on these occasions because you might not be able to control yourself and do something you will regret, especially whenever your office crush is around. You need to be able to think clearly the whole time so that you don’t end up doing something that will embarrass you when you come back to work the next day. When you are intoxicated, you might just uncontrollably take things a little too far and ruin your entire career just because of that single mistake in that one night.

5. Compliment something that’s really noticeable

If you want to flirt with someone by paying them a compliment, make sure that you only mention something that is really obvious. Otherwise, you might give them the wrong impression, especially if mention something that not everybody knows and it’s only you who notices.

6. Just flash a friendly smile

If your intention is simply to be noticed by your office crush, it will be acceptable to just flash them a friendly smile, and there is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure that you keep it innocent so as to avoid crossing the line. You can also do this when you greet them good morning when you get to see them as soon as you arrive at work, then you follow that greeting with a sweet and friendly smile. This way, you will also be able to avoid giving them a wrong impression. They won’t think that you mean something else. However, if you feel awkward or you make the other person feel awkward, then it means that you have sent a different message or you might have crossed the line. When you reach this point, just stop flirting.
