Dating Rules

Dating is one of the most exciting phases in life that we go through. However, it can be pretty daunting too. And no matter what, there will always be these unspoken dating rules that well, we are encouraged to follow.

These rules are set not to serve as a guide for people to avoid making wrong decisions and end up being with the wrong person to cry, get their hearts broken and be miserable in the end. Ultimately, the goal here is to help you find your one, true love.

Now, whether we like it or not, there really are some dating rules that even if they are quite unfair, they are still relevant because they make sense. You are not really expected to follow them 100 percent but they are here for a good reason.

Here are some of the dating rules you need to know and you may want to live by.

1. Guys should always be the one to make the first move

Many people may find this rule very old fashioned, but in many places in the world, this one still holds true. Girls should just wait for the guy to make the first move. It may seem unfair because in cases where the girl likes the guy, the expectation is that she should not be the one to take the initiative of making a move. In reality, it is really frustrating because if you are a girl, it would be hard to know if the guy feels the same way about you. Although if you think about it, it is still a matter of your decision if you will live with this rule or not.

2. Wait for a day before texting them

This rule applies when you have already gone on a first date. Girls are discouraged from texting after the first day for at least 24 hours unless the guy reaches out to her first. This rule is here for a good reason. If you are a girl, you may not be giving the guy the right impression if you show him that you are way too eager to communicate, especially when you have just been together for your first date. The best thing that you are advised to do is just to wait the next day before communicating again or just wait for the guy to text you first and then you respond.

3. Do not see him with less than 7 days notice

This rule aims for girls to make guys feel that they are too busy to accept an invitation with a short notice. As a girl, you should not make a guy feel as if you have nothing else that keeps you busy and that you are readily available for him all the time. Also, if he wants to spend time with you, he needs to plan for it in advance. He can’t just ask you out whenever it is convenient for him. If you can do this, this will actually work for your own good. Guys like girls who are challenging, and the more you challenge him, the more he will chase you.

4. Do not be the one to ask to define the relationship

When you have been dating a person for quite a long time already and you feel like you share the same feelings towards each other, it might be tempting to just ask him and define the relationship. However, if you are a girl, then it is not supposed to be your call. While it is important for you to know how he feels, you need to wait for the right time for this to come up, and it is not supposed to come from you. Otherwise, you will sound as if you are in a rush or worse, you might just scare him away.

5. Never call him first unless you are returning a call

Calling a guy first for any reason is a no-no. This will just give him an idea that you are becoming too clingy and he will just get turned off if you’re like that. It might end whatever you have right now before a relationship even starts.
